So far it’s been 4 days since FIP treatment began, and today is vet day!
May 3 & 4
She needs to get some bloodwork done to see get a better look at her chem panel. She was at the vets yesterday for this but unfortunately all that was done was the CBC and they missed the chem panel so we have to take her in again for more blood. She hates going to the vet but it’s necessary, so off we go…again!
Yesterdays CBC results came back in and it was not good. Her red blood cell count was dropping and fast, her white blood cell count was down, which on the surface looked good, but most likely it was due to the fact that her system is exhausted and she isn’t actually able to produce more white blood cells to fight off the virus. Thing still seem to be spiraling downward and quickly.
FIP Treatment Notes:
May 3 –
@ 1430 gave 0.25ml of B12 at the vets, 50ml of saline solution via drip to hydrate. Her Iron is super low, gums and nose are not as pink. Her bloodwork is not good at all.
@ 1600 gave almost one whole packet of Proboost thymic protein A on gums which she licked off quickly
@ 1630 gave 0.5ml of Rx Vitamins Amino B-Plex to help with her Iron. She has been eating a lot more raw red meat, cow organs, its the only thing she likes. Makes’ sense as her Iron is low.
Her energy is very low, meows are very quiet barely audible. She follows me around everywhere I go.
Belly diameter is still the same at 16″, no change.
Boiled the Iron fish using and gave that to her in her bowl over night. Need to keep a close eye to make sure she is not constipated.
May 4 –
Woke up to her very hungry. She ate the left over food of raw beef and freeze dried fish and chicken. Gave her more and she ate more of that too.
@ 930 gave 0.5ml of Amino B-plex.
Bloodwork does not measure all that’s necessary, contacted Vet to get the blood work.
New bloodwork in, Results indicate very high bilirubin while other liver factor results are low, indicating that its not from the liver but possibly Hemolytic anemia with the cause unclear.
@ 1700 she was given 5ml of dexamethasone injection (I later found out from the warriors that this was not recommended)
She was prescribed prednisolone 5mg one tab daily with food and Sulcrate suspension 30mg/ml, 3ml daily 3x a day, one hour away from other meds or food.
She was also prescribed doxycycline to kill off other co-infections but they were out of stock so they will source asap.
They are also looking into iron supplements for cats (feosol) that they will also source and provide asap.
1830: 50ml of saline administered SubQ
